Weekend Recap: Arsenal and Inter stretch leads as Raphinha delivered a sensational hat-trick

Arsenal and Inter emerged as the biggest winners of the weekend in the title races of Europe's top five leagues, while PSG is not far behind, despite not being in action, as RC Lens failed to capitalize following their defeat.
The different races continue to set up for an interesting final weeks of the season as the quests for European places also received twist plots, while relegation battles continue to get complicated with minors getting important results.
On the individual level, Raphinha and Max Dowman stole the headlines as the Barcelona man grabbed a hat-trick, while the English teenager came off the bench to deliver Arsenal's win over Everton and make history while at it.
From the Premier League in England, where Mikel Arteta's charge opened up a nine-point gap lead over their closest rivals Manchester City to the German Bundesliga, where Dortmund breached the gap on Bayern Munich, here are the best highlights of the weekend in Europe's top five leagues.
Premier League: Massive wins for Arsenal, and the United clubs
On an evening when it looked as though they would stumble again, Arsenal scored two late goals to secure themselves an important home win over Everton, a result that played a psychological role in Manchester City's draw at West Ham United later in the day.
Whoever thought Pep Guardiola's team does not care about Arsenal's results must be kidding themselves, as City players were seen watching their rivals' game as they arrived in London for the West Ham clash.
The two late goals from substitutes Viktor Gyokeres and Max Dowman must have stung like bees, and that ultimately affected their rhythm as they endured a frustrating evening against Nuno Espirito Santo's team.
Dowman, who created the first and scored the second having come on as a 74th-minute substitute, became the youngest goalscorer in Premier League history at 16 years and 73 days, beating James Vaughan's record.

Bernardo Silva got Manchester City underway in the London stadium with the opener a minute after the half-hour, but the hosts responded through former Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos, who headed home Jarrod Bowen's corner to level the score.
It finished 1-1 as West Ham United defended well to prevent further City goals, a result that temporarily moved them out of the relegation zone before Nottingham Forest's draw with Fulham on Sunday sent them back.
Anthony Gordon's early strike was all it took as Newcastle United secured their first away win at Chelsea since May 2012, a result that took Liam Rosenior's team out of the European spot at the end of the weekend, although the margin remains minimal.
Manchester United beat Aston Villa 3-1 on Sunday to move ahead of their rivals by three points in the race for Champions League qualification. Bruno Fernandes orchestrated the win with two brilliant assists, while Casemiro, Cunha, and Benjamin Sesko were all on target.
Liverpool failed to take full advantage of Chelsea's home loss to Newcastle as they were held at home by Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, although the one point earned moved them ahead of Chelsea to fifth.
Newcastle move into the top ten while Bournemouth, even though they are now unbeaten in 10 Premier League games, dropped a place down to 10th after their goalless draw with Burnley, who continue to get trapped in the relegation battle.
Yankuba Minteh scored the lone goal as Brighton secured a vital 1-0 win over Sunderland to keep their European dreams alive and moving ahead of their host on goal difference as a result, while there was nothing to separate Crystal Palace and 10-man Leeds United on Sunday.
Bottom of the table Wolves will seek to continue their redemption arc when they travel to London for a Monday night date with Brentford at the Gtech.
LaLiga: No changes in the top three
All three of Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Atlético Madrid secured massive wins ahead of an important European week, while Villarreal was left to celebrate a late equalizer at Alaves as the slip-up of their closest rivals.

After dispatching Manchester City in mid-week, Alvaro Arbeloa's team thrashed Elche 4-1 thanks to goals from Antonio Rudiger, Federico Valverde, Dean Huijsen, and an outrageous long-range strike from Arda Guler.
The result helped them close the gap on leaders Barcelona to one point, but Hansi Flick's team restored their advantage on Sunday, after avenging a humbling loss against Sevilla earlier in the season by winning 5-2.
Brazilian winger Raphinha scored a hat-trick, including two first-half penalties while Dani Olmo and Joao Cancelo were also among the goals while Djibril Sow and Oso got the consolation for the visitors at the end of either half.
Nahuel Molina's first goal of the season came in the eighth minute to seal an important win for Atletico Madrid against 10-man Getafe, taking them two points ahead of Villarreal, who narrowly escaped defeat at Alaves thanks to Nicolas Pepe's late leveler on Friday night.
Real Betis and Celta Vigo also cancelled out each other as Hector Bellerin struck four minutes after the restart to restore parity after Ferran Jutgla had given the visitors an early lead in the fourth minute.
Real Sociedad took advantage of that draw to close the gap and now trails a European place by three points after Goncalo Guedes' brace inspired them to a 3-1 victory over Osasuna on Sunday evening.
All the other members of the top 10, Espanyol, Athletic Club, and Osasuna all suffered losses, while Girona moved further away from relegation danger following an impressive 3-0 victory over Bilbao.
Real Oviedo surpassed the 20-point benchmark after their win over Valencia and are now seven points from safety ahead of Levante's visit to Rayo Vallecano on Monday night.
Serie A: Inter extends lead, Roma down to sixth
Despite only managing a draw in the Lombardy derby, Inter were able to extend their lead over Milan at the Serie A summit by one point with the Rossoneri unable to avoid defeat in Lazio later on Sunday. Juventus and Como also win.

Nicola Krstovic fired home a shot rebound late on in the Giuseppe Meazza to salvage a point for Atalanta and deny Inter a home win despite taking a first-half lead through young striker Pio Esposito.
The result proved a positive outcome for Cristian Chivu's team as they finished the weekend eight points ahead, after their closest rival Milan were beaten by a Gustav Isaksen's lone goal in Lazio on Sunday night.
Como continued their sensational form as they toppled Roma to move into the top four with nine games to go. After trailing to a Donyell Malen's penalty at half-time, Cesc Fabregas' team staged a second-half comeback to win 2-1.
Juventus also moved ahead of Roma following their narrow victory away to Udinese thanks to Jeremy Boga's strike in the 38th minute, while Thijs Dallinga's early goal helped Bologna return to winning ways away at Sassuolo.
Udinese's loss means there are no changes in the top half of the table, but a big one in the relegation zone as Pisa moves ahead of Hellas Verona with a 3-1 win over Cagliari while Lecce faces the potential danger of being dragged into the battle after their loss to Napoli.
Fiorentina travel to Cremonese on Monday night with both sides desperate for a win which will directly affect the other in the standings as Fiorentina could move up to 16th or replace their host in the relegation zone.
Bundesliga: BVB pounce as nine-man Bayern escape B04 with a draw
Borussia Dortmund took advantage of Bayern Munich's draw at Bayer Leverkusen to close the gap at the summit back to nine points thanks to a 2-0 victory over highly flying Augsburg on Saturday.

Karim Adeyemi and young defender Luca Reggiani scored in either half to seal their 17th Bundesliga win of the season, the same amount they managed in the league in the entirety of last season no thanks to the poor run with Nuri Sahin.
It was enough to close the gap on League leaders Bayern Munich to nine after the Bavarians were held in a 1-1 draw at Bayer Leverkusen, where they had to finish the game with nine men following red cards to Nicolas Jackson and Luis Diaz.
The host took the lead through Aleix Garcia in the sixth minute but disappointingly failed to capitalize and allowed the visitors, who had been reduced to 10 men, a way back into the game as Luis Diaz scored in the 69th minute.
Denis Undav's lone goal downed RB Leipzig as Stuttgart moved level on points with Hoffenheim, who needed a late equalizer to earn a point at home to Wolfsburg, with the visitors snapping a run of three straight losses.
Arnaud Kalimuendo-Muinga secured 10-man Frankfurt an important 1-0 win over relegation-bound Heidenheim to stay in their continental hunt but Freiburg slipped to a home loss of the same scoreline to Union Berlin, who move into the top half.
Mainz beat Werder Bremen for first win in five and continues to steer clear of relegation while Borussia Monchengladbach mark return to winning ways in a 2-0 victory over relegation-threatened St. Pauli following the loss to Bayern the previous match day.
Ligue 1: Advantage PSG as Lens and Lyon slip
PSG will have the chance to extend their lead at the summit when they play their game in hand against Nantes after RC Lens slumped to a 2-1 defeat at Lorient on Saturday.
Despite being dominant, Pierre Sage's team fell behind to Bamba Dieng's 18th-minute strike, but leveled through Odsonne Edouard three minutes after the halftime break, only to concede a 65th-minute winner from Aiyegun Tosin.

Olympique Marseille move ahead of Lyon thanks to a 1-0 victory secured by Amine Gouiri's second-half goal against a stubborn Auxerre, with their rivals held away to 10-man Le Havre.
Lille and AS Monaco secured massive wins against Rennes and Brest respectively, with Lorient completing the top half after that win over Lens moved them ahead of Brest.
Toulouse edged Metz in a seven-goal thriller to secure their first win since the 25th of January and move ahead of Angers, while Paris FC made it four games unbeaten with a vital draw at Strasbourg.
