Liverpool, Chelsea & Palace Stay Invincible as Newcomers Continue To Shine As | Premier League GW3 Round Up

Dominik Szoboszlai’s stunning free-kick, Sunderland’s comeback, and Chelsea’s derby win headlined a Premier League weekend that served up drama across every ground.
Elsewhere, Stamford Bridge celebrated a derby win over Fulham, while VAR controversy once again stole the spotlight after Michael Salisbury’s costly intervention.
Beyond the giants, Sunderland continued to script one of the season’s most compelling stories, while there are also impressive wins for Palace, Everton and then Brighton, who continues to haunt Manchester City.
From the figures to the facts and underlying consequences, here is Betrekatips Premier League Gameweek three round up.
Premier League GW3 Round Up
1. Salisbury Buried Derby Excitement in the West

Chelsea kicked off the weekend with a 2-0 home win over Fulham in the West London derby thanks to goals from Joao Pedro and captain Enzo Fernandez.
Joshua King thought he had scored his first-ever senior goal for Fulham, but VAR assistant Michael Salisbury denied the 18-year-old his special moment as he called the attention of the referee to an incident in the build-up.
Referee Robert Jones decided to disallow the goal, a decision that has now been acknowledged as a mistake. Salisbury was subsequently removed from VAR duties for the Liverpool vs Arsenal clash on Sunday.
Joao Pedro gave Chelsea the lead, heading home Enzo Fernandez's corner in the final minute of first-half added time, while Fernandez added a second from the penalty spot four minutes before the hour mark to seal the win.
Chelsea temporarily moved top of the table with seven points from three games, while they also kept their second clean sheet of the season, matching any other team in the division.
2. Scrappy, But Man United Finally Win

Manchester United finally have their first win of the season in a thrilling encounter with newly promoted Burnley, whom they had not lost to in their previous six meetings — four wins.
The hosts took the lead at Old Trafford after Casemiro's header from Bruno Fernandes' free-kick came off the crossbar and deflected in off Josh Cullen for an own goal three minutes past the half-hour mark.
Burnley, who had been pinned back before the opener, grew into the game and found their reward five minutes before the hour. Lyle Foster nicked home a Bruun Larsen cross from close range.
United retook the lead immediately, as a long ball from Altay Bayindir found Diogo Dalot, whose cutback was fired home first time by Bryan Mbeumo — becoming the first-ever Cameroonian to score a Premier League goal for Manchester United.
The visitors hit back again, Jadon Anthony making it goals in back-to-back Premier League games as he guided home from close range following a corner.
But United stole the points late on through Bruno Fernandes. The captain converted a 90+7th-minute penalty after VAR confirmed a shirt tug from Anthony had brought down Amad Diallo.
The dramatic win could have gone either way, but Ruben Amorim will take it as a positive platform to build on heading into the international break.
3. Jack Grealish Continues to Come Good for Everton

Jack Grealish became only the second Everton player to register two Premier League assists in each of his first two starts for the club after Jeremy Gross in 1992.
His playmaking helped David Moyes’ side seal a 3-2 win away at Wolves — their first at Molineux since Michael Keane’s late goal earned victory in January 2021.
The England international set up Beto in the seventh minute from a corner, but Wolves responded as Hee-Chan Hwang powered home a Marshall Munetsi cross midway through the first half.
Everton retook the lead three minutes past the half-hour mark through Iliman Ndiaye, who converted a Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall cross into an unguarded net for his second of the season.
Grealish’s second assist came when he teed up Dewsbury-Hall for Everton’s third, before Rodrigo Gomes pulled one back for Wolves. The visitors, however, held on.
4. Spurs Crumbled By Bournemouth
Evanilson’s fifth-minute strike was all Bournemouth needed to beat Tottenham in North London — a deserved win as the visitors dominated proceedings.

Tottenham unveiled new signing Xavi Simons ahead of kickoff after sealing a deal for the Dutch sensation from RB Leipzig on Friday. But joy quickly turned to despair as Marcus Senesi’s pass found Evanilson, whose shot took a wicked deflection off Cristian Romero to beat Guglielmo Vicario.
Bournemouth should have extended their lead, but Antoine Semenyo, Marcus Tavernier, and Evanilson all missed big chances. Spurs offered no response and barely clung on.
With the win, Andoni Iraola has now collected four Premier League points away at Spurs — more than all previous Bournemouth managers combined.
5. Sunderland Humbled Brentford in Comeback Win

Sunderland have now won as many Premier League games this season after three rounds as Southampton did in the entirety of last season, coming from behind to beat Brentford.
Regis Le Bris’ side is enjoying a dream start, having already beaten West Ham in Gameweek 1. This was also their first back-to-back home wins at the start of a Premier League season since 2001.
Brentford could not kill the game. Dango Ouattara’s early goal was ruled out for offside, while Kevin Schade missed a second-half penalty.
The visitors eventually led with 13 minutes left through Thiago, who headed home a Frank Onyeka cross for his third of the season.
But Sunderland struck back. Rico Henry fouled Habib Diarra in the box, and Enzo Le Fee calmly converted his debut Premier League penalty to level.
The winner came in the sixth minute of added time when Wilson Isidor headed home Granit Xhaka’s free-kick to complete the comeback — Sunderland’s 100th Premier League home win.
6. Leeds United Had Newcastle, But Just A Point

Leeds United missed the chance to secure their second league win of the season, which would have been their first against Newcastle since January 2021.
The hosts dominated in West Yorkshire, creating the only big chance and posting higher shot and xG numbers. But like their previous two meetings, it ended in a stalemate at Elland Road.
Eddie Howe’s side remain winless after three games, while Leeds collected a second clean sheet.
7. Brighton Changing Their City Narrative

For the first time ever, Brighton have gone multiple consecutive games without losing to Manchester City, setting a club record by coming from behind again to deny Pep Guardiola’s side.
Fabian Hurzeler, who began this unbeaten run upon his appointment last season, has still not lost to Guardiola. He also finally earned his first win of the new campaign after three games.
On his 100th Premier League appearance, Erling Haaland gave City a first-half lead. But Brighton turned it around in the final quarter.
James Milner equalised from the penalty spot — becoming the second-oldest goalscorer in Premier League history — before Brajan Gruda finished coolly from Kaoru Mitoma’s pass in the 89th minute for the winner.
8. West Ham United Left it Late But Hammered Forest

Graham Potter’s West Ham finally earned their first win of the season, scoring three late goals against Nottingham Forest in London.
It seemed destined for a stalemate — which would have been the first in this fixture since 2003 — but Jarrod Bowen broke the deadlock six minutes from time from a Crysencio Summerville assist.
Two minutes later, Summerville won a penalty, which Lucas Paqueta converted. Callum Wilson then added a third in stoppage time, heading home Malick Diouf’s cross for his first Hammers goal.
The 3-0 result was Forest’s heaviest home defeat since their Premier League return.
9. Spectacular Szoboszlai Ended Arsenal's Big Six Run

Dominik Szoboszlai’s stunning 87th-minute free-kick earned Liverpool a 1-0 win over Arsenal in the weekend’s showpiece clash, keeping the Reds perfect after three games.
The Hungarian midfielder produced the decisive moment of brilliance to beat David Raya, his first concession of the season.
Liverpool have now scored in 37 consecutive league games, surpassing their previous club record (36). Only Arsenal (55) and Tottenham (39) boast longer runs.
The defeat ended Arsenal’s unbeaten run against fellow big-six clubs dating back to April 2023, while their Anfield drought continues — no league win there since 2012.
10. Crystal Palace Compound Villa's Woes
Crystal Palace thrashed Aston Villa at Villa Park in the final kickoff of the weekend, joining Liverpool and Chelsea as the three unbeaten sides this season.
Jean-Philippe Mateta opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Daichi Kamada was fouled by Villa goalkeeper Marco Bizot.

Marc Guehi, playing his last Palace game before a move to Liverpool, doubled the lead with a stunning strike in the second half, before Ismaila Sarr sealed it late on.
It was Palace’s third straight big win over Villa.
Summary of the Weekend
Liverpool maintains a 100 percent record, while Chelsea and Crystal Palace also remain unbeaten. Newly promoted sides continue to impress despite Burnley’s loss at Old Trafford.
Manchester City are struggling to find rhythm with their reshaped squad, while Mikel Arteta will hope Arsenal’s injured stars return after the break to revive their title charge.
Wolverhampton Wanderers remain the only team without a win, having lost all three games — early relegation candidates burdened by their poor start.
