Premier League: Trossard and Doku Keep the Title Race Blazing as European Race gets Complicated

Arsenal edges closer to a first Premier League title in 22 years, while Manchester City put themselves in a much better position in case of another Gunners' slip down the turvy road. However, no other member of the current top five won their games on a frustrating weekend.
Only four winners emerged from the nine Premier League games that went down during the weekend; with Arsenal and Man City making up two of those, a tantalizing end to the season is ensured as the dramatic title race continues.
The other two winners, Bournemouth and Brighton, close in on Liverpool and Aston Villa in the race for Champions League qualification, while West Ham United's 14-season top-flight stay could be coming to an end after a sixth straight home derby loss.
Arsenal Edged Past Relegation-Threatened West Ham
Arsenal kept their five-point lead ahead of Man City in the race for the Premier League title following a narrow win over relegation-threatened West Ham United in a Sunday evening derby at the London Stadium.
Leandro Trossard scored the game's only goal seven minutes before the end of normal time. Mikel Arteta's team could have gone out of sight in the early exchanges but were denied by two goal-line clearances from Konstantinos Mavropanos.
Leandro Trossard also forced a huge save from Mads Hermansen, while a second chance came off the woodwork. The hosts grew into the game following an injury to Ben White, who was replaced by Martin Zubimendi as Declan Rice moved to right-back.
Mikel Arteta changed things after the interval to restore Rice to midfield, eventually bringing on Martin Ødegaard and Kai Havertz late in the game with desperation already creeping in at 0-0.
Martin Ødegaard tiptoed into the penalty area after a quick exchange with Declan Rice before setting up Leandro Trossard for a beautiful first-time strike that ultimately crushed West Ham United's resilience.
However, the hosts thought they had drawn level in the penultimate minute of added time, but the goal from Callum Wilson was chalked off for a blatant foul on David Raya following a VAR review, leaving the Hammers in the drop zone with two games to go.
The Arsenal goalkeeper claimed the Premier League Golden Glove as a result of his 18th clean sheet in the competition, finally putting to bed competition from Manchester City's Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Manchester City Keep Title Hopes Alive
Manchester City returned to winning ways after a draw at Everton on Monday night, which had seen them surrender their advantage at the summit to Arsenal.
After a goalless first half, Jeremy Doku broke the deadlock on the hour mark with a brilliant individual effort into the far corner following a corner.

Goals from Erling Haaland and Omar Marmoush followed as Pep Guardiola's team laid the ground before Arsenal's game later on Sunday. This ensured the lowest they can finish is top two, having gone nine points ahead of third-place United.
Other Champions League Hopefuls Falter
None of the other members of the top five, aside from Arsenal and Manchester City, won their games in Matchday 36 as the trio of Liverpool, Manchester United, and Aston Villa were all held by their respective opponents.
Liverpool could not top Chelsea at Anfield; Enzo Fernandez's free-kick inadvertently went past Giorgi Mamardashvili five minutes after the half-hour, canceling out Ryan Gravenberch's six-minute opener.
Manchester United were lucky to escape the Stadium of Light with a point as they were dominated by Sunderland, taking until the added minutes of the second half to muster their first and only shot on target of the game.
Unai Emery will be disappointed that his team could not secure maximum points away to Burnley, just days after thrashing high-flying Nottingham Forest to book their place in the Europa League final.
Villa fell behind eight minutes into the contest at Turf Moor but scored the next two goals, three minutes before halftime and four before the hour mark, through Ross Barkley and Ollie Watkins. However, Zian Flemming leveled for Burnley two minutes later as it finished 2-2.
Bournemouth and Brighton Take Advantage
Bournemouth and Brighton were the other two teams to taste victory this Premier League weekend. Thanks to the failure of their direct rivals, they are able to keep their Champions League hopes alive.
Rayan's only goal extended Bournemouth's unbeaten run to 16 games, which will go down as the longest of any Premier League team this season. Meanwhile, Jack Hinshelwood, Lewis Dunk, and Yankuba Minteh were all among the goals as Brighton thrashed Wolves 3-0.

Others
Jean-Philippe Mateta came off the bench to rescue a point for Crystal Palace in a 2-2 draw with Everton, on a weekend where Palace became mathematically safe from relegation following West Ham United's defeat to Arsenal.
However, the result has huge implications for Everton's European dreams. Elsewhere, Newcastle United's hopes of returning to the continent ended after Elliot Anderson's goal canceled out Harvey Barnes's opener in Nottinghamshire.
Tottenham Hotspur hosts Leeds United on Monday night, knowing a win would make it almost impossible for Leeds to avoid relegation this season, potentially leaving West Ham United as the side that departs the top flight after 14 consecutive seasons.
