Premier League: Gameweek 9 Preview and Predictions
Another action packed gameweek is set to take off in the English Premier League on the back of a busy midweek in Europe, with seven teams competing in UEFA competitions.

They all return to league action this weekend with the intention of building on the momentum of a positive run, while those that hasn't been lucky enough look to turn things around.
Of the ten fixtures coming up this weekend, we take a look at what to anticipate in those involving the major teams, of which the meeting between Arsenal and Liverpool in the Emirates is the biggest highlight of them all.
Arsenal vs Liverpool
Biggest fixture of the weekend in the United Kingdom, only second to the Clasico between Real Madrid and Barcelona of all the fixtures that'll go down across the globe this weekend.
Liverpool ruled the fixture during the time of Jurgen Klopp, winning eleven of 17 at some point before Arsenal turned things around in the last two Premier League seasons, winning two of four while maintaining an unbeaten in the fixture.

Liverpool though look like a team ready to dominate the fixture again under Arne Slot, even so with Arsenal not so convincing in the absence of some important names like Bukayo Saka and Martin Ødegaard, while William Saliba is also suspended for the game.
Arsenal fell to their first defeat of the season last weekend in the Vitality stadium against Bournemouth. Mikel Arteta will be desperate to return to winning ways in the league, even so with Liverpool being a direct rival to the Premier League title.
Liverpool has won eight straight games since their last and only defeat so far this season. They've won all their other eleven of the 12 games across all competitions and are the current leaders in the league, while they've also won all their Champions League games.
Chelsea vs Newcastle United
Chelsea recovered from the defeat to Liverpool last weekend by winning 4-1 against Panathinaikos in the UEFA Conference League in mid-week. They however face another tough test on Sunday, when Newcastle come to the Bridge.
It is a fixture that has brought the Blues much joy in recent times, winning 12 of the last 13 at home across all competitions, including one penalty shoot-out.

The worry for Enzo Maresca will be that his team has dropped points in three different home games in the league this season, and Newcastle United, tight defensively, will give them a run for their money on Sunday.
Eddie Howe will also have his side's poor form to worry about, knowing a defeat this weekend could see them drop into the bottom half of the table, depending on results elsewhere.
West Ham United vs Manchester United
Neither of the two teams has had a good start to the season and while Manchester United returned to winning ways in the league last weekend, it was a different story for the Hammers, who got hammered at Tottenham.

Their positions on the log speak volume of how underwhelming they've performed this season. With one win in their last seven games across all competitions, an underfire Erik Ten Hag has his team placed 12th in the league, three and as many points above their host on Sunday.
There has been not many reasons for delight for Julen Lopetegui since his return to England with the Londonders. Just two wins in eight league games, they pose no real threat to any of the top teams, although United has been anything but tough this season.
No away team has won in each of the last six of this facture, with the home team winning every time, a statistic that makes West Ham United the favourite heading into Sunday, but on current form and without Mohammed Kudus, it becomes a tough result to come by.
Manchester City vs Southampton
A very much one-sided affair this one, and a great opportunity that could see Pep Guardiola's side end the weekend as the Premier League leader, with Liverpool set for a difficult test at Arsenal.

Manchester City has lost one of their last eight meetings with Southampton, winning five and drawing two. They've won the last two in the Premier league by an aggregate of 8-1 and come Saturday, they are expected to continue their dominance in this fixture, as well as their unbeaten in the league.
Still without a Premier League win this season, Russell Martin would have preferred to be heading some other places than the Ethiad but this is their reality, the reality of the top-flight.
Crystal Palace vs Tottenham Hotspur
With seven wins in their last eight games across all competitions, Tottenham are surely getting to that place where they wanted under Ange Postecoglu and the meeting with Crystal Palace on Sunday presents another avenue to continue their impressive run.
It is becoming one of their favourite fixtures having won each of the last five and with Palace in their least competitive form heading into this fixture, the more reasons for Tottenham to be optimistic.

Crystal Palace has only three points from eight games so far and head to Sunday's game on a run of three straight defeats. In addition, Oliver Glasner's side are yet to win a league game this season.
Will their first league win come on Sunday? It is highly unlikely.
Aston Villa vs AFC Bournemouth
Bournemouth will be full of confidence heading into this fixture having beaten Arsenal last time out. Aston Villa however will be the deserving favourite.
Aside the advantage of playing in front of their home supporters, Unai Emery's side are on a very impressive run, with has seen them remain unbeaten in their last ten games, winning eight.
Aston Villa are unbeaten in the last three of this fixture having lost each of the four prior to this run — the will be looking to compound Bournemouth's inconsistency and reach the 20 point tally on matchday nine.
