PFA Awards 2025 | Arsenal and Liverpool Win Big

Arsenal and Liverpool dominate the awards at the Professional Football Association awards night as they rule in the main categories, with Manchester City entirely missing out for the first time in a while.
Arsenal were the biggest winners of the night, dominating in both men's and women's categories, with Mariona Caldentey and new signing Olivia Smith taking major awards back to N5.
Liverpool were more dominant in the men's category as Mohamed Salah picked up a prize that was already inevitable. At the same time, the Team of the Year features significant members of their title-winning team from last season.
From the top flight to the major with the Championship winner, we take a look at the winners as England celebrates its standout performers from the 2024-25 season.
PFA Awards 2025 | Individual Categories
Who Won the PFA Player of the Year 2025?
The Inevitable Mo. Mohamed Salah was crowned the PFA Player of the Year winner following an unbeatable season, where he led Liverpool to their second Premier League title.
The Egyptian, who previously won the award in his debut season at Liverpool in 2017-18, and again in 2021-22, scored 29 goals and provided 18 assists in 38 Premier League games, setting a new record for most goal involvements in a single season and has now become the first player to win the PFA Player of the Year award three times.
Salah broke and set a host of records during the season. His Liverpool team also reached the final of the Carabao Cup, where they lost to Newcastle United, while a Champions League journey that started with aplomb ended in the round of 16 against eventual winners PSG.
He finished the season with 34 goals and 23 assists in 52 games across all competitions.
Who Won the PFA Women's Player of the Year 2025?

Mariona Caldentey won the PFA Women's Player of the Year in her debut season in England, becoming not only the first Arsenal player to win the award since Vivianne Miedema in 2018-19 but also the first-ever Spaniard to claim the honour.
Caldentey left Barcelona last summer in search of a new adventure, and the last 12 months away from the shadows of Ballon d'Or winners Alexia Putellas and Aitana Bonmatí have shown just what a phenomenal player she is.
Although her Arsenal team finished second in the WSL, 12 points behind winners Chelsea, only a few players came close to her brilliance. With 14 goal contributions, she was just one fewer than the most in the competition for the season.
Her brilliance, however, extended beyond domestic competitions. She played a crucial part in Arsenal's run to the Champions League title, beating her former club Barcelona in the final.
She finished the season with 19 goals and 10 assists in 41 Arsenal games across all competitions, and beat stiff competition from teammate Alessia Russo to the award.
Who Won the PFA Young Player of the Year 2025?

Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers is the PFA Young Player of the Year award winner, beating the likes of Ryan Gravenberch, Liam Delap, and Cole Palmer to the prize.
The Manchester City academy alumnus was a consistent performer for Unai Emery's charges in all three competitions, as the club finished sixth in the league, reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League, and the semi-finals of the Emirates FA Cup.
Rogers scored 14 goals and assisted 13 others in 54 games across all competitions. His season was most remembered for standout performances against Manchester City at home in the league, a Champions League hat-trick against Celtic, and an FA Cup Round Four clash with Tottenham Hotspur.
Who Won the PFA Women's Young Player of the Year 2025?

Olivia Smith, the 21-year-old who spent the season at Liverpool, is the PFA Women's Young Player of the Year award winner, claiming it in her debut and only season with the Reds that never walk alone.
The Canadian forward scored in all three competitions for Liverpool, with her seven goals in 20 league games making her their top scorer, accounting for around 33 percent of their 22 goals.
Her brilliant performances earned her a transfer that made her the record signing in women's football history, joining Arsenal for £1 million earlier in the summer.
Olivia Smith beat off competition from Manchester City's Mary Fowler, Manchester United's Grace Clinton, and Chelsea's trio of Maika Hamano, Aggie Beever-Jones, and Wieke Kaptein.

Which Players Made the PFA Team of the Year 2024-25?
From Liverpool's Premier League winners to Arsenal's superstars, here is the PFA Team of the Year 2025 XI.
PFA Team of the Year 2025 | Goalkeeper
Goalkeeper | Matz Sels of Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest's Belgian goalkeeper Matz Sels is the Goalkeeper included in the Team of the Year, beating Arsenal's David Raya to the spot.
The duo shared the Premier League Golden Glove last season after tying on 13 clean sheets. He also prevented 4.5 goals, with only Jordan Pickford (5.7) outperforming him in that aspect.
PFA Team of the Year 2025 | Defenders
Defender | Virgil van Dijk of Liverpool

Virgil van Dijk led Liverpool's defence as they won the Premier League title, featuring in all but one of their 38 games. He scored three important goals and assisted one, while recording impressive defensive numbers.
They kept a league-high 14 clean sheets and conceded 41 goals, making theirs the second-best defence, behind Arsenal. Like Salah, van Dijk also made important contributions in Liverpool's Carabao Cup and Champions League runs.
Defender | Milos Kerkez of Bournemouth / Liverpool

The Hungarian was a consistent member of the Bournemouth defence that kept nine clean sheets, conceded among the fewest goals of any team, and finished ninth on the log.
Milos Kerkez featured in all 38 league games, adding attacking contributions to his defensive solidity — two goals and five assists — while also impressing in three FA Cup appearances.
His impressive season secured him a move to champions Liverpool, where he immediately succeeded Andrew Robertson as the starting left-back for Arne Slot.
Defender | Gabriel Magalhães of Arsenal

Gabriel Magalhães is finally getting deserved recognition as he makes back-to-back PFA Team of the Year appearances following another standout season with Arsenal, where he made vital contributions at both ends.
The Brazilian scored three league goals and assisted one, while playing a telling part in the best defence in the league as the Premier League runners-up conceded 34 goals, the fewest in the division.
Gabriel was also part of the Arsenal team that reached the Champions League semi-finals, although a hamstring injury in mid-March ended his season abruptly. He totalled 42 appearances across all competitions, scoring five times.
Defender | William Saliba of Arsenal

The most consistent player in this category, William Saliba, has featured in all three PFA Teams of the Year since his debut season in the Premier League in 2022-23, making him the only player to have appeared in each of the last three editions.
While the trophy continues to elude Arsenal, the French defender has established himself as one of the best centre-backs in the world, and last season he took the club to another level as they reached the Champions League semi-finals for only the third time in their history.
Saliba made a total of 51 appearances across all four competitions, scored twice, and helped Arsenal to the best defence in the Premier League and the second-best in the Champions League.
PFA Team of the Year | Midfielders
Midfielder | Ryan Gravenberch of Liverpool

The Dutchman did not impress under Jürgen Klopp but shocked everyone as he became a cornerstone for Liverpool right from the onset under Arne Slot.
One of the players who drove the Reds to the league title, Ryan Gravenberch, featured in 37 league games, putting in consistent performances at the base of midfield, protecting the defense, and driving the team forward.
Across all competitions, the 23-year-old, who narrowly lost out on the Young Player award, made 49 appearances and assisted four goals.
Midfielder | Declan Rice of Arsenal

Declan Rice had a memorable season on an individual level, and even though his productivity accounted for his recognition, it is not the highlight of his impact at Arsenal.
He was arguably Arsenal's best performer as they reached their first Champions League semi-final since 2008, while also making vital contributions in other competitions, including the Premier League, where he ranked very high for big chances created.
Rice scored nine and assisted ten in 52 Arsenal games across all competitions while finishing second in the league and reaching the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup, where they lost out to eventual champions Newcastle United.
Midfielder | Alexis Mac Allister of Liverpool

The Argentine completes the midfield three. Very crucial in Arne Slot's set-up, he acted as the heartbeat of the team as they dominated most of their games and closed the title race much earlier.
Alexis Mac Allister made Liverpool play the way they wanted to. His pivot with Gravenberch made the team strong both in defence and attack, keeping the attack flowing in the final third and recovering the ball in their half.
He made 49 appearances across all competitions, including 35 in the league and eight in the Champions League, totalling seven assists and six goals.
PFA Team of the Year 2025 | Forwards
Forward | Alexander Isak of Newcastle United

It was a season to remember for the Magpies as they won their first major silverware in 70 years, and Alexander Isak, who played a pivotal part in getting them to the final, scored the eventual winner as they beat Liverpool at Wembley to lift the Carabao Cup.
Isak had his best season in the colours of Newcastle, and surely the best any of their strikers has had since Alan Shearer in 2003-04, but maybe winning a trophy elevates the Swede above the Premier League all-time top scorer in club folklore.
Isak also scored 23 Premier League goals, finishing second in the Golden Boot race behind Mohamed Salah, who scored just one more non-penalty goal.
He added three in the Carabao Cup and one in the FA Cup, respectively, to take his goal total for the season to 27, while adding six more assists in 42 games across all competitions.
Forward | Chris Wood of Nottingham Forest

The New Zealand international has been in the Premier League for more than a decade and a half, but he tends to age like fine wine. PFA Team of the Season appearance in 2025 — who would have thought?
Chris Wood scored 20 Premier League goals last season, behind only three players. His goals helped Nottingham Forest seal Conference League qualification, which was recently upgraded to the Europa League after Crystal Palace's demotion.
His 20 goals made him the only player to reach 20 Premier League goals for the club since Stan Collymore (22) exactly three decades ago. He also added three assists while playing 36 games in the competition.
Forward | Mohamed Salah of Liverpool
Inevitable, as described above.

Who Won the PFA Championship Player of the Year 2025?

Manchester City's summer signing James Trafford won the PFA Championship Player of the Year award for his outstanding performances between the sticks for Burnley as they won the league.
The goalkeeper, who signed for the Cityzens in a £27 million deal, kept 29 clean sheets and conceded just 16 goals in 45 games, never conceding twice in a single match and saving both penalties he faced.
