Actions continued as usual during the weekend in Europe top divisions, although the English league took a break as the Emirates FA Cup fourth round games came to live.

Barcelona took the chance to close the gap in LaLiga with an impressive win over Sevilla after both Madrid clubs share the spoils in their derby meeting.

In Germany, Bayern Munich extended their lead by two more points as Leverkusen could not beat Wolfsburg, while Napoli fell short in Italy in a 1-1 draw with Udinese, leaving Inter with the chance to close the gap to just one point with a win at home to Fiorentina on Monday.

PSG continues to lead the way in France with another win against Monaco, who moves out of the top three as a result, allowing OGC Nice to leapfrog them to third on goal difference.

In England, it was all about the FA Cup, where some shocking results were recorded as Championship side Plymouth Argyle defeated Liverpool, while Brighton also ended Chelsea's run in the competition with a comeback win at the AMEX.

English Emirates FA Cup: Liam Roberts of Millwall

The Goalkeeper put in a sensational performance, becoming the first Millwall shotstopper to leave Bramal Lane with a clean sheet since David Forde in March 2010.

Despite their dominance, Leeds United suffered their first home defeat since September as a Femi Azeez brace delivered a 2-0 won for Millwall, who book their place in the round 16 of the competition.

Spanish LaLiga: Oihan Sancet of Athletic Club 

Spanish midfielder Oihan Sancet was the hero for Athletic Club as they mark return to winning ways in a comfortable 3-0 home win over Girona on Saturday afternoon.

After scoring a second half equalizer to rescue a point for Ernesto Valverde's men in Betis in mid-week, the 24-year-old was presented the chance to score in back-to-back LaLiga games for the second time this season, when the host were awarded a penalty.

Miguel Gutierrez was penalized for a foul on Mikel Jauregizar and Sancet converted from the spot three minutes from the half-time break to give Bilbao the lead in a fixture that has been dominated by Girona since their return to the topflight in 2022.

He became the first player to beat Girona Goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga from the penalty spot this season in LaLiga, ending a run of three consecutive penalties saved by the Argentine.

It got even better before the interval as Alex Berrenguer found room for a cross inside the penalty area, which connected with the header of Sancet for his and Athletic Club's second of the day.

Sancet had the chance to complete his hat-trick earlier in the second half but was denied by a brilliant sliding tackle by a defender, although he was not to be denied as he was soon presented another chance in the final quarter of the game.

After making a save from a Jauregizar shot, Gazzaniga quicky threw the ball out to a teammate, who couldn't get it under control in time, allowing Inaki Williams to steal and set up Sancet for a dinking finishing over the Goalkeeper.

With the hat-trick, Sancet scored his 11th LaLiga goal of the season, reaching double digits for the second time in the competition while he has now scored three hat-trick in the competition, as many as Neymar and Gareth Bale.

It's his third LaLiga hat-trick for Athletic Club, only Aritz Aduriz (4) has more for the club in the 21st century while he also overtakes Kike Garcia and becomes the highest scoring Spaniard in the league so far.

Italian Serie A: Mateo Retegui of Atalanta 

The striker has hit impeccable form since his return from injury, and continues to leave competitors behind in the race for the Capocannoniere this season.

Mateo Retegui hit four goals in Atalanta's thrashing of Hellas Verona away from home, securing a much needed result that puts an end to a run of three without a win across all competitions.

Retegui hadn't score since his brace in a 2-1 win away at Como last month, but he was on hand to break the deadlock just after the 20th minute mark, firing a left footed shot into the bottom corner from a rebound, after a Charles de Ketelaere shot came off the upright.

Four minutes later, the 25-year-old gave the visitors a deserved cushion by converting after being teed up by defender Berat Djimsiti, the latter who registered his first assist of the season in the process.

Brazilian midfielder Ederson added a third and Retegui would complete a first-half hat-trick just before the interval, finding the bottom left corner with a shot, after the host failed to deal with a set-piece.

He scored his 20th League goal of the campaign few minutes before the hour mark, firing home a left footed shot from a Marten de Roon low cross to complete a 5-0 demolition of their host.

With his fourth of the day, Mateo Retegui became the first Italian to bag as many goals in a single Serie A game since Ciro Immobile against SPAL in January 2018.

He also becomes the third player to hit 20 League goals this season, after Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah of Bayern Munich and Liverpool respectively.

With his ninth goal of 2025, only Ousmane Dembele (13) has now scored more than the former Boca Juniors youngster in Europe top five leagues so far.

German Bundesliga: Myron Boadu of Bochum 

Unfortunately for the Dutch striker and Bochum, he had to be taken off at half time due to injury and his team would go on to concede a second half equalizer to make away with just a point in Holstein Kiel.

Boadu made it five goals in four games with a first-half double to help Bochum overcome a 1-0 deficit and lead 2-1 in the span of two minutes between the 37th to the 39th minute in the first Bundesliga kick-off on Sunday.

His side went down 1-0 to a third minute penalty converted by Steven Skrzybski after Felix Passlack was penalized for handling the ball following a corner kick in the first minute.

Bochum boss Dieter Hecking will hope the 24-year-old recovers in time for the upcoming fixtures as he alone has been directly involved in eight of their 19 goals in the league this season.

French Ligue 1: Rayan Cherki of Olympic Lyon

Winless in their previous three meetings with Reims, Lyon was meant to have a difficult time on Sunday afternoon when they set out with the intention to put an end to their seven winless run.

They were inspired to a flawless 4-0 win by Rayan Cherki, who had a hand in three of their goals, as many has he had in his 10 previous games combined, as he looked more assuring having put behind the disappointment of a failed more in January.
