The first full weekend of September produced several individual performances that stood above the rest across Europe’s top leagues, with some of the stars of the previous weekend shut out, especially in the Premier League.

From decisive goals and late winners to outstanding all-round displays, several players turned difficult matches in their teams’ favour. Among the most impressive were Crystal Palace wing-back Tyrick Mitchell and Deportivo La Coruña's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Each player had a different route to becoming the standout performer in his league. Mitchell delivered a match-winning brace in a comeback victory; Aubameyang combined scoring with creativity in another dramatic away win; and Diao produced two goals as Como dismantled Genoa.

Krattenmacher influenced the Bundesliga contest from the bench with two crucial goals, and Sinayoko produced perhaps the weekend’s most spectacular individual display by scoring a hat-trick against Marseille at the Vélodrome.

Premier League — Tyrick Mitchell, Crystal Palace

Tyrick Mitchell was the driving force behind Crystal Palace’s 3-2 comeback against Fulham at Craven Cottage as the visitors finally picked up their first league win of the campaign in the London derby.

The Eagles fell behind twice, but the left-sided defender responded on both occasions, scoring in the 35th and 54th minutes. His first was a powerful left-footed finish after Eddie Nketiah released him in space, while his second came after Fulham failed to clear the danger.

Mitchell finished with three shots, two on target, three crosses and a created chance before being replaced by Ben Chilwell in the 74th minute, who produced the match winner 13 minutes from time.

LaLiga — Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Deportivo La Coruña

At 37, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang continues to defy expectations, and his contribution to Deportivo’s 3-2 comeback victory at Villarreal was another testament, as it includes an 88th-minute winner that sends the newcomers up to fifth.

Beyond the goal, Aubameyang also produced the assists for Deportivo’s other two goals, making him directly responsible for all three of his side’s goals at La Cerámica against a team competing in the Champions League.

Auba has now scored in each of Deportivo’s first four league matches since returning to Spain, while his overall tally stands at four goals and two assists, a six-goal involvement that is only bettered by Raphinha, seven, in Europe's top five leagues.

Serie A — Assane Diao, Como

Assane Diao played a central role as Como recovered from an early setback to beat Genoa 4-1 away from home and climb up the Serie A table to fifth with seven points after three games. 

Genoa struck first after 19 minutes, but Diao turned the match around with his first goal six minutes after Martin Baturina had restored parity for Cesc Fàbregas's team. His left-footed finish put Como ahead before Nico Paz added a third before half-time.

The Senegalese then completed his brace in the 78th minute, finishing with his right foot after Moise Kean's pass, six minutes before he was withdrawn having produced two goals from three shots, with two attempts on target.

Bundesliga — Maurice Krattenmacher, Elversberg

Maurice Krattenmacher delivered one of the weekend's most dramatic individual interventions when Bundesliga newcomers Elversberg came from 3-1 down to defeat Borussia Mönchengladbach 4-3 away from home.

Introduced from the bench, the 21-year-old needed barely a minute to make an impact, reacting quickest after his initial header struck the crossbar to pull Elversberg back into the game at 3-2. 

He remained a threat and eventually produced the decisive moment in the third minute of stoppage time, calmly finishing past Moritz Nicolas to complete the comeback, ensuring Elversberg continued their perfect start.

Krattenmacher managed six shots despite playing only 27 minutes and was officially recognised as the player of the match. His brace also represented his first Bundesliga goals, giving the former Bayern youngster a remarkable introduction to Germany's top flight.

Ligue 1 — Lassine Sinayoko, Paris FC

Lassine Sinayoko produced the most eye-catching performance of the five selections with a hat-trick as Paris FC defeated Marseille 3-2 at the Vélodrome to extend their unbeaten start to the Ligue 1 season.

The Mali international needed only 23 seconds to open the scoring, finishing from a cut-back after a rapid attack down the left. Marseille twice levelled through Amine Gouiri, but Sinayoko twice restored Paris FC's advantage, completing his hat-trick from the penalty spot in the 86th minute.

The performance made him the first player to score three times against Marseille at the Vélodrome in Ligue 1 since Bafétimbi Gomis in 2012. It also took Sinayoko to four league goals in three appearances since his summer move from Auxerre, while Paris FC climbed to second place with seven points.

Ultimate Player of the Weekend: Lassine Sinayoko 

Lassine Sinayoko edged the other four to claim Player of the Weekend after scoring a stunning hat-trick in Paris FC’s 3-2 victory over Marseille. While Aubameyang, Mitchell, Diao and Krattenmacher also impressed, Sinayoko’s three goals against Marseille made his display the weekend’s standout performance.
