A host of high-stakes matches are coming up in Europe's top five leagues this weekend, especially in England and Germany, where the league favourites are involved in tricky fixtures.

From the North London derby in England, where Arsenal's desperation to return to winning ways clashes with Igor Tudor's Tottenham Hotspur debut, to Bayern Munich hosting Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga, we have selected the biggest matchups in the top five leagues over the coming days.

Tottenham Hotspur vs. Arsenal

Premier League leaders Arsenal travel to face a struggling Tottenham Hotspur this Sunday, with the Gunners desperate to protect their summit spot and Spurs fighting to escape a relegation scare.

Mikel Arteta’s side enters the 208th North London Derby following a frustrating 2-2 midweek draw against Wolves, a result that left them just five points ahead of Manchester City despite playing a game more.

Arsenal have dominated recent meetings, winning the reverse fixture 4-1 in November thanks to an Eberechi Eze hat-trick, but recent slumps mean they are not on form themselves, while they face a different challenge under new Spurs boss Igor Tudor.

Tottenham begin a new era under an interim boss, who replaces Thomas Frank after a dismal run left the club 16th in the table, but the clash with Arsenal will not be an easy one to start with.

Spurs are winless in nine of their last eleven matches and face a staggering injury crisis, with Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison, Mohammed Kudus, and Rodrigo Bentancur among several starters sidelined, while Curti Romero is suspended.

The hosts have lost half of their last ten home league games, though they hope the new manager bounce can spark an upset against a team whom they have not beaten in competitive competition since May 2022.

Tudor, though, remained defiant during his unveiling, remarking, "There is no time to find excuses; we must fight for every blade of grass in this stadium."

Prediction: Tottenham 1-2 Arsenal

Manchester City vs. Newcastle United

Manchester City host Newcastle United this Saturday at the Etihad Stadium, looking to capitalize on Arsenal’s recent slip-up and move within two points of the Premier League summit.

Pep Guardiola’s side enters the weekend in formidable form, sitting second in the table with 53 points from 26 matches, and after watching Arsenal's 2-2 draw with Wolves, the Citizens know the title race is now firmly in their own hands.

City boasts a perfect recent home record against the Magpies, having won their last six league meetings at the Etihad without conceding a single goal, and will also be boosted by the return of Erling Haaland.

Newcastle United arrive in Manchester seeking their first league double over City since 1984, following a 2-1 victory at St James’ Park in November, however, they've recently lost both legs of a Carabao Cup semi-final doubleheader against Pep Guardiola's team.

Despite a mid-table standing of 10th place, Eddie Howe’s squad is high on confidence after a historical 6-1 Champions League win over Qarabag, but the growing injury list remains a concern for Eddie Howe, with captain Bruno Guimaraes the highlight of the top names.

With just one win in their last five Premier League games, Newcastle will have a difficult time stopping Man City, and the hosts, barring any unforeseen circumstances, are favourites to pick up all the points.

Prediction: Man City 4-1 Newcastle

Atlético Madrid vs Espanyol

Atletico Madrid return to La Liga action this Saturday at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano, desperate to snap a two-match losing streak and protect their hold on a Champions League qualification spot.

Diego Simeone’s side currently sits fourth, three points behind Villarreal, following recent domestic defeats to Real Betis and Rayo Vallecano.

Despite a midweek 3-3 draw against Club Brugge, the Colchoneros remain very strong at the Metropolitano, having secured 31 points from 12 matches, only their only loss came last time in the stadium.

Simeone faces selection issues with Nico Gonzalez and Pablo Barrios injured, though Clement Lenglet and Jose Gimenez are expected to return to the starting lineup after being left on the bench in mid-week.

Espanyol arrive in the capital sitting sixth but struggling for form, having failed to win a single match in 2026. Manolo Gonzalez’s team has collected just two points from their last seven league games, most recently drawing 2-2 with Celta Vigo.

The Catalan side did manage a 2-1 victory over Atletico in August and hopes to secure a rare league double. Kike Garcia could be handed a start after scoring off the bench last week.

Prediction: Atlético 3-1 Espanyol

Juventus vs Como

Top-four contenders Juventus and Como go head-to-head at the Allianz Stadium this Saturday, with the hosts desperate to recover from a humiliating 5-2 midweek defeat to Galatasaray.

Luciano Spalletti’s Juventus side currently sit fifth in Serie A, four points ahead of their ambitious visitors, but enter the clash in a state of defensive crisis.

The Bianconeri have conceded 13 goals in their last four matches across all competitions, including a second-half collapse in Istanbul where substitute Juan Cabal was sent off.

Despite their recent struggles, Juve remain unbeaten at home this season, a record Spalletti is under immense pressure to protect as he aims to close the one-point gap to fourth-placed Roma.

Ambitious Como, managed by Cesc Fàbregas, are enjoying a historic campaign and remain firmly in the hunt for a European spot, and head to Turin after winning a point in Milan in midweek.

Although the Lariani are on their longest winless streak of the season following a shocking home loss to relegation threatened Fiorentina and draws to Atalanta and AC Milan, they have proven to be formidable travelers, losing just three away games this term.

Fàbregas will be without the suspended Nico Paz, meaning either Tasos Douvikas or former Juve striker Álvaro Morata will be tasked with exploiting a weakened Bianconeri backline, which will be without Pierre Kalulu.

Prediction: Juventus 2-1 Como

Atalanta vs Napoli

Atalanta BC welcomes Napoli to the Gewiss Stadium this Sunday in a pivotal Serie A fixture, with both sides desperate to cement their standing in the top four.

The hosts, off the back of Champions League loss to Dortmund, enter the clash in seventh place with 42 points, aiming to leverage a formidable home record that has seen them secure seven wins and only two losses at the New Balance Arena this season.

Despite their defensive solidity of conceding just 21 goals in 25 matches, Atalanta will be without Charles De Ketelaere, a key player in attack, and Palladino has to find a balance before their UCL return leg.

Gianluca Scamacca, who has been prolific since the former Fiorentina coach took over the reins in November, remains the focal point of their attack, although his form has dwindled in recent weeks.

Napoli, currently third with 50 points, arrives in Bergamo facing a significant injury crisis. The Partenopei are missing stalwarts including Giovanni Di Lorenzo and Amir Rrahmani, while star midfielder Scott McTominay is a late fitness doubt.

History slightly favors the visitors, who have won 67% of their recent away meetings against Atalanta, including a 3-1 victory in their last encounter, while Conte has also won both of his meetings with Palladino since returning to Serie A with Napoli.

Prediction: Atalanta 1-2 Napoli

Fiorentina vs Pisa

Fiorentina and AC Pisa prepare for a decisive battle at Stadio Artemio Franchi on Sunday, with both clubs mired in the Serie A relegation zone.

The hosts, led by Paolo Vanoli, sit 18th in the table despite a recent massive 2-1 victory away at high-flying Como, but the Viola are also dealing with significant injury concerns, as stars Moise Kean, Dodo, and David De Gea are reportedly sidelined.

Fiorentina hope to capitalize on their 56% average home possession to break down a Pisa side that has struggled significantly to secure victories away from home this season.

AC Pisa, yet to win on the road since returning to the top-flight at the start of the season, currently 19th, arrive in Florence desperate to end a 14-match winless streak, which has produced eight defeats.

Oscar Hiljemark’s side has relied heavily on draws to stay within reach of safety, and has so far drawn 12, the most of any side in the division, but they currently trail 17th-placed Lecce by nine points.

With only one league win all campaign, the visitors face a last-chance saloon scenario, especially with their subsequent trips taking them to teams in the top half of the table.

Prediction: Fiorentina 2-1 Pisa

Bayern Munich vs Eintracht Frankfurt

Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich aim to solidify their title charge this Saturday as they host Eintracht Frankfurt at the Allianz Arena, holding a six-point cushion at the summit.

Vincent Kompany’s side enters the clash following a professional 3-0 victory over Werder Bremen last time out, which helped them maintain their impressive average of 3.7 goals per game after overcoming a difficult spell.

With 57 points from 22 matches, the Bavarians are wary of second-placed Borussia Dortmund’s looming presence, especially after a double-digit point gap was breached in recent weeks.

Despite historical dominance, Bayern have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last six home league outings, conceding 60% of their home goals in the first half.

Eintracht Frankfurt, currently seventh with 31 points, arrives buoyed by a 3-0 win over Borussia Mönchengladbach under new manager Albert Riera, who will be eager to impress by closing the distance in the race for European places.

Die Adler have proven to be a bogey team for Bayern, winning four times against them since 2019, more than any other Bundesliga club in that period.

However, Riera faces an injury crisis with stars like Michy Batshuayi, Arthur Theate, and seven other first-team stars sidelined, complicating their quest for a first away win since November. Bayern will also be without Manuel Neuer.

Prediction: Bayern 4-1 Frankfurt

RB Leipzig vs Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund travel to face RB Leipzig this Saturday, aiming to extend their remarkable 15-match unbeaten Bundesliga streak and keep pressure on league leaders Bayern Munich.

Niko Kovac’s Dortmund head into the fixture in peak form, boasting a six-match winning streak in the Bundesliga that has kept them within six points of leaders Bayern Munich.

Following a 4-0 thrashing of Mainz and a midweek Champions League victory over Atalanta, BVB appear unstoppable despite a defensive injury crisis that has sidelined Nico Schlotterbeck and Niklas Sule out in recent weeks.

Despite their momentum, Dortmund face a psychological hurdle in Saxony, having lost their last five away matches against Leipzig, with Kovac recently stating that; "We're not underestimating Leipzig, despite their recent results."

RB Leipzig, meanwhile, are desperate to ignite a top-four charge after winning only three of their last ten matches. Ole Werner’s men have struggled for consistency but boast a strong head-to-head record, winning seven of the last ten meetings against BVB.

Werner will be without injured goalkeeper Péter Gulácsi but welcomes back David Raum to bolster a backline facing the league's most clinical attack, behind Bayern Munich.

Prediction: Leipzig 1-1 Dortmund

RC Lens vs AS Monaco

Ligue 1 leaders Lens host Monaco this Saturday at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis, looking to solidify their one-point advantage over Paris Saint-Germain at the summit.

Pierre Sage’s side regained top spot following a clinical 5-0 demolition of Paris FC last weekend, when defending champions PSG were dealt a massive setback after losing 3-1 at Rennes earlier in the weekend.

The Blood and Gold have been formidable at home, winning 10 consecutive league matches in their northern fortress. With 52 points from 22 games, a single point against the visitors would officially surpass their entire points tally from the previous campaign.

Despite defensive concerns regarding Jonathan Gradit, the league's top-performing side remains the heavy favorite to bag the three points against their visitors, who has lost their last two meetings by an aggregate of 8-1.

Monaco arrives in eighth place, weary after a grueling midweek Champions League defeat to PSG, a match where they took a 2-0 lead and ended with 10 men following the red card to Aleksandr Golovin.

Even though Sébastien Pocognoli’s men are unbeaten in their last four league outings, they have struggled for consistency on the road, failing to win any of their last five away fixtures.

Lens should be very determined to stay sharp, but will continue to do without defender Samson Baidoo, although he visitors have a far more injury crisis, and will do without Golovin, who is also suspended in the league.

Prediction: Lens 3-1 Monaco

Strasbourg vs Olympique Lyonnaise

In-form Lyon travel to the Stade de la Meinau this Sunday to face Strasbourg, with Paulo Fonseca’s side chasing a staggering 14th consecutive victory in all competitions.

The visitors sit comfortably in third place, five points clear of Marseille, after a dominant 2-0 win over Nice last weekend, and results elsewhere are starting to suggest that they may yet join the title race.

Lyon have been defensively resolute in 2026, conceding only four goals in their last seven Ligue 1 matches while keeping three straight clean sheets, four across all competitions in the same period.

Reflecting on the team's progress, Fonseca remarked, "I feel like we're a family. With our fans, everything becomes easier... but this isn't the end: we still have a lot to achieve in this league."

Strasbourg, currently seventh, enter the clash following a dramatic 2-2 draw with Olympique Marseille where a 97th-minute Joaquín Panichelli penalty rescued a point after going 2-0 down inside the final 20 minutes.

Gary O’Neil’s side has developed a habit of late heroics, scoring six times after the 75th minute this season, though they have conceded first in every game this month, a cause of worry against a Lyon side now obsessed with clean sheets.

Panichelli remains the focal point of the host's attack in the absence of Emanuel Emegha, having netted 12 league goals, while teammate Martial Godo has provided seven goals in his last ten appearances.

Prediction: Strasbourg 1-1 Lyon
