Spurs, City, United, Villa—Misfortune Picking Its Victims? It’s That Time of the Season

Patrick Dorgu and Youri Tielemans have been confirmed as the latest injury casualties, adding to a growing list of concerns for Premier League clubs, particularly those with continental commitments.
Premier League top clubs have been hit with serious injuries as we approach the decisive final four months of the season, with the games coming thick and thin while players continually suffer injuries that'll sideline them for a while.
Patrick Dorgu, Youri Tielemans, and John McGinn have become the latest additions to a long list, while those returning from the sidelines struggle to stay fit for Matchdays.
It's that time of the season, the unforeseen circumstances that decide who becomes the favourite to win certain titles, and as it continues to pile up, we take a look at Premier League clubs and how it'll affect them in the weeks to come.
It's that unfortunate period of the season
Arsenal
Arsenal have struggled on the injury front all season, although Mikel Arteta's team have coped due to their squad depth, which is the main reason for their four-point lead at the league summit.
But as the list continues to ease up, the category of victims has impacted their season, as both preferred left-backs Riccardo Calafiori and Piero Hincapie have been injured at the same time, impacting their run.
Calafiori in particular has been a stalwart not just defensively but also in attack, the best moments of Arsenal's season have come when he is on the team, and having returned to full training, Mikel Arteta will be pleased.

Kai Havertz remains a concern having recently returned from a long-term injury, but their main worry is the poor form of their attacker, who has all struggled with goals and assists in recent months.
Aston Villa
Unai Emery's charge currently sits third, level on points with second-place Manchester City, and with recent incidents, it appears the words of their manager 'we are still not a contender to be in the top five' have started to take effect.
Boubacar Kamara, Youri Tielemans, and John McGinn, all important midfielders have suffered long-term injuries, with Frenchman Kamara ruled out for the rest of the season.
Just like Arsenal, three injured players may not necessarily be the end of the world but all three being from similar positions leave the team short, while Ross Barkley has not played since November and even wants out of the club.
Douglas Luiz is set to rejoin the club on a six-month loan from Juventus, and even though that may ease the crisis given he is a player used to their style, his inconsistency in recent years due to form and injuries does not make this a safe deal.
Bournemouth
The recent loss of Antoine Semenyo to Manchester City in a big-money move has been a blow to Bournemouth's season goals, but surprisingly, results have improved in recent games after his departure.
Andoni Iraola is already missing players like Tyler Adams, an important contributor who suffered an MCL injury in December and will not be back until the end of February, while Dutch attacker Justin Kluivert is sidelined until April.
Ben Doak, three months, David Brooks, one month, and a couple of fringe players are currently sidelined for the Cherries.
Brightin and Burnely
Adam Webster and Solly March are yet to play for Brighton this season, and will be out until April and February respectively. Stefano Tzimas is out for the season while Mats Wiefer is set for a February return from a two-month injury sideline.
Josh Cullen played an important role leading Burnley until hisseason-endingg ACL injury in December, while Zeki Amdouni is yet to touch a ball following a similar injury a year ago.
Chelsea

Cole Palmer is the biggest disappointment on the injury front for Chelsea, although Levi Colwill remains a significant loss, but his ACL injury came before the hour of the season, Palmer, however, has been in and out of the squad.
Tosin Adarabioyo is currently out with a minor thigh injury, while the backup goalkeeper, who started two of Liam Rosenior's opening four games is currently out with a knock.
Although he has featured on the bench a couple of games, Dario Essugo is yet to make his debut due to injuries, and the Portuguese will not return until February, the same return timeline as Romeo Lavia, who has made four starts and has been injured for a significant part of his three seasons at the club.
Brentford and Crystal Palace
Fabio Carvalho, who suffered a season-ending injury in training in November, and Joshua Da Silva, who hasn't played in over a year, are the two only injury concerns for Brentford, whose performances have improved lately before back-to-back losses to Chelsea and Nottingham Forest.
Eddie Nketiah, Nathaniel Clyne, and Daichi Kamada are expected to return to full fitness in February following injuries on or before the first game of 2026, while long-term absentee Cheick Doucoure, who hasplayedplay in over a year will also return to training next month for Palace.
Everton and Fulham

Manchester City loanee Jack Grealish, who is ruled out until late April after suffering from a broken foot is David Moyes' only injury worry.
Rodrigo Muniz has been out due to a hamstring injury since early November but he is expected back in training in February, when Sasa Lukic and Kenny Tete will also return having both missed out of action in recent weeks.
Liverpool and Leeds United
Conor Bradley and Geovanni Leoni will play no further part this season following their respective injuries in January and September, while Stefan Bajcetic, who has not featured since the end of his loan spell with Las Palmas, will return in February.
Record signing Alexander Isak, who suffered a broken foot in December is out until April, but Ibrahima Konate will be back after missing the last two games due to the passing of his father.
Dan James has been out since November and will return in February. Jaka Bijol and Gabriel Gudmundsson picked up minor injuries this month, but should both be back before the end of February.
Manchester City
Mateo Kovacic is expected to return from a four-month injury sidelined next month, and Pep Guardiola will also hope for the return of John Stones at the same time, following an injury that has kept out the England international out since December.
Ruben Dias and Savinho are also expected back in February, while the injury to Nico Gonzalez is not considered major. Josko Gvardiol is not expected back in action until May, meaning his season may be as good as done.
The Cityzens have already secured the signing of Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guehi to boost their ranks this window, and given no further setbacks, the team should be set by the end of February.
Manchester United

Suspiciously, almost every injured Manchester United player returned immediately after Ruben Amorim gave up his head coach role, and the return of AFCON stars has also boosted the spirits and results at the club.
Michael Carrick has beaten both Manchester City and Arsenal in his two games so far, but the recent injury to Patrick Dorgu, who has been their best player in recent weeks will dent a huge blow to their confidence.
Although he has been played in attack during this period, Carrick will now count on the players primarily signed for the role to deliver in the absence of the Danish international.
Joshua Zirkzee and Matthijs de Ligt are both expected back in action in the early days of February.
Newcastle United
Bruno Guimaraes missed the loss to Aston Villa but has reportedly made the squad to face PSG in the Champions League, while Tino Livramento and Jacob Murphy will be out until March in a massive blow for Eddie Howe.
Fabian Schar is out for three months following his injury early this year. Emile Kraft, who is ruled out for a similar period will be back in February having suffered his injury in November, while Jamal Lascelles has not been seen with the squad since November.
Nottingham Forest
Chris Wood remains out till February following a knee injury which has kept him out of action since October and their other injury concern is goalkeeper John Victor, who has been sidelined following his injury during a horrific performance against Aston Villa in the first game of 2026.
Sunderland

Granit Xhaka suffered an ankle injury just before the trip to West Ham United. He will be out until late February, when Regis Le Bris will also be able to count on the duo of Arthur Masuaku and Bertrand Traore, who both returned from the AFCON bearing injuries.
Tottenham Hotspur
No Premier League team has suffered more from injuries than Tottenham Hotspur, who currently have almost double figures of first-team players on the sidelines.
Mohammed Kudus, out for four months will be back in late April, Rodrigo Bentancur is sidelined for over two months and will be back in March, while Ben Davies will not return until mid-April following an injury earlier this month.
Dejan Kulusevski hasn't played this season but will be back in February. James Maddison is not expected to take part this season following his injury in the summer preseason, but Lucas Bergvall could still play despite the recent leg injury that'll see him miss three months.
Richarlison will be back in March, while Joao Palhinha is expected back in less than a week after missing the last two games due to a knock.
West Ham United and Wolves
West Ham United have no injury worries, although the recent loss of Lucas Paqueta, who returned to Flamengo is a significant blow to their survival campaign, but they did sign Valentin Castellanos from Lazio earlier in the window.
Wolves are also fine on the injury front, with their only two casualties, Toti Gomes and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde expected back next month after both suffered injuries in December.
