Liverpool-City and preview of the Premier League actions this weekend
Actions continue in the Premier League this weekend as the games reach round 13, which signals the rounding up and passing of judgment on the start to the season each club has had.

Looking at the current standing, without a doubt Liverpool has been the team to beat so far, and fortune continues to shine on them with the scheduled fixtures. A meeting with Manchester City this Sunday is another testament to their good luck.
Manchester United’s responsibility it to start picking up their season as a good start under Ruben Amorim can still see them go on to have a fine season. Despite being way behind the real contenders, the fact that it is still considerably early in the season offers comfort.
With the return of injured players, Arsenal look like challengers again and Mikel Arteta must be delighted that it isn’t Manchester City who are running away at the top of their standing. They however do have a lot of grounds to cover with Arne Slot's side not slowing down at the moment.
At this point of the campaign, Chelsea must feel satisfaction in what they've seen from Enzo Maresca's charge, given their experience in recent seasons. This weekend has installed another top challenge and the good news is they have earned the rights to be optimistic.
These top teams in the English top-flight will be in action this weekend and we assess what is there to anticipate when hostilities resume.
Liverpool vs. Manchester City
The rivalry will again be carried on post Jurgen Klopp as Arne Slot has had Liverpool playing the best way possible, making them the strongest around while Manchester City is caught up in no man's land.
On Sunday, hostilities will resume in Anfield as High-flying Liverpool entertain a struggling Manchester City in a top-of-the-table battle, where the former will look to extend their gap lead. At the same time, the latter will seek to discover lost form.
Liverpool has enjoyed a strong start to life under the watch of Arne Slot and the win over Real Madrid in mid-week, irrespective of the context, showed how much stronger they are becoming, as it ended a run of eight winless against Los Blancos.
They boast the best defensive record in the league and attack, only Tottenham has scored more than their 24 goals. In Europe, they've conceded just once and won all their games.

It's a different fortune for their counterpart, who has been continuously exposed, especially recently, the last six games have seen them produce hideous numbers, difficult to comprehend that they do belong to a side under the watch of Pep Guardiola.
Form Guide
- Liverpool are unbeaten in their last 15 games, winning 14, including each of their last six.
- Manchester City are winless in their last six games, losing the first five of this run.
- Liverpool has lost one Premier League game at home this season — they've not lost multiple times at home in the competition in the past three seasons.
- Manchester City has conceded 17 goals in their last six games across all competitions, as many as they did in 24 games before this run.

Suspension and injury updates
Alisson Becker is back in training while unfortunate news for the Reds is the injuries to Ibrahim Konate and Conor Bradley, who starred in their big European win over Real Madrid in mid-week. Federico Chiesa and Diogo Jota are both ruled out.
For Manchester City, Pep Guardiola will not be granted his wish of having his players back because the trio of Rodri, Mateo Kovacic, and Oscar Bobb will sit out the match, and Jeremy Doku is a doubt.
Prediction: Liverpool 1-1 Manchester City
West Ham United vs. Arsenal
It'll always be about vengeance whenever Arsenal takes on the Hammers for years to come. Just about eleven months ago, West Ham went to the Emirates stadium and inflicted a 2-0¹ defeat on Mikel Arteta's charge, denting their title hopes.
The result will give Julen Lopetegui so much optimism when the fixture kickoff on Saturday evening, even so as they go into the game on the back of a 2-0 win at Newcastle, which ended a two-game winless run.
The visitors, look to have finally gotten over their recent woes after back-to-back wins, which include a 5-1 thumping of High-flying Sporting CP away from home in the UEFA Champions League.
West Ham United hasn't fared well against the big boys. They've suffered big losses to Chelsea, Manchester City, and Tottenham Hotspur in the league, while they also got a bashing at the hands of Liverpool in the Carabao Cup.
However, victories against Manchester United and away at Newcastle will give a needed boost against an Arsenal side who are not without their weaknesses, despite their recent upturn of fortune.

Form Guide
- West Ham United are unbeaten in their last three Premier League home games, winning two.
- Arsenal has won each of their last two games, on the back of a run of three without winning.
- West Ham United has not won back-to-back league games in nine months, since beating Brentford and Everton in February/March.
- Arsenal has found the back of the net eight times in their last two games, more than seven in seven prior to this run.

- Arsenal has won just one of their last three of this fixture away from home, with their only win coming in a 6-0 victory in their most recent trip in February.
Suspension and injury updates
Mohammed Kudus will serve the last of his five-game suspension while Niclas Fullkrug continues to miss out with an Achilles tendon injury. For Arsenal, Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu remain injured.
Prediction: West Ham United 1-3 Arsenal
Chelsea vs. Aston Villa
Chelsea had no trouble seeing off Heindenheim on Thursday in the UEFA Europa Conference League but a different challenge awaits on Sunday when a wounded Unai Emery's Aston Villa visits Stamford Bridge.
The Blues will be ready. It is a challenge Enzo Maresca has prepared his side for and in more recent games against the top oppositions, they are beginning to express themselves better and execute their game plan.
Aston Villa was denied a chance to end their winless run when they played at home to Juventus in midweek. However, a late winner by Morgan Rogers was ruled out by the VAR following a review, and now the club is without a win in seven games.
Although, a point against the Serie A giants sounds great for a Villa side given their current form, it was not worth a consolation as they remain starved of a win in over a month, and it doesn't get any easier with a trip to Chelsea coming up.
Form Guide
- Chelsea are unbeaten in their last five games across all competitions, winning each of the last two.
- Aston Villa are winless in their last seven games, drawing three, including the last two.
- Chelsea are unbeaten in their last nine home games across all competitions, winning six.
- Aston Villa has lost each of their last three games away from home across all competitions.

- Chelsea are unbeaten in the last three of this fixture across all competitions, winning one.
- Aston Villa are unbeaten in the last three Premier League meetings with Chelsea, winning the first two.
- The last three of this fixture that has been held in the Stamford Bridge have seen at most, one side score the goal (s).
Suspension and injury updates
Reece James has been ruled out until the turn of the year while Malo Gusto has also not featured since his withdrawal from international engagement with France Under-21. Pedro Neto is also another injury worry for the host.
The visitors will be without Jacob Ramsey, who hasn't played since picking up a hamstring injury and taking off at half-time against Liverpool just before the international break. Amadou Onana is also doubtful.
Prediction: Chelsea 2-1 Aston Villa
Manchester United vs Everton
Ruben Amorim finally debuts in Old Trafford on Thursday night in Europe, picking up his first win as Manchester United boss in the process, and on Sunday, he'll take charge of his first Premier League home game.

Despite the disappointment of failing to kick off his reign with a win as his charge was held in Portman Road, the former Sporting boss believes the team will come good once they get to work more on the basics.
They did put up a good attacking performance against Bodo on Thursday, where they scored three goals, albeit there's still plenty of room for improvement on their big chances misses with three gone begging on the night.

Leny Yoro is back in training, albeit he may not be match fit yet. Victor Lindelof is the only player on the sideline for the host.
Everton does not have any fresh injuries, although they continue to be without Armando Broja, James Garner and Seamus Coleman.

Prediction: Manchester United 3-1 Everton
