History Makers as the Bundesliga and Ligue 1 2025-26 Seasons Conclude

The 2025-26 Bundesliga and Ligue 1 seasons conclude over the weekend as the final round of games kicks off simultaneously in Germany and France, and every mini battle on the standings comes to a halt at full-time.
Bayern Munich and PSG, already crowned champions in their respective leagues, alongside several others, had nothing to fight for, while the continental races reached their climax, and a dramatic relegation race was ultimately decided in the Bundesliga.
Michael Olise was crowned Bundesliga Player of the Season on final day while Harry Kane and Esteban Lepaul pick up the top scorer awards in their respective leagues, and good news for Wolfsburg fans as their club avoids relegation after beating St. Pauli to earn the relegation playoff spot.
From Harry Kane's impressive numbers to Esteban Lepaul's ending of PSG's monopoly of the Ligue 1 top scorer, we take a look at the best history makers as two of Europe's top five leagues end activities for the 2025-26 season.
Bundesliga and Ligue 1 History Makers in 2025-26
1. Harry Kane set a new German goal record
With 58 goals across all competitions, Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane set a new record for most goals in a single season for a Bundesliga club, overtaking a previous one of 55 set by Robert Lewandowski in 2019-20 for the Bavarians.
The England skipper notched a hat-trick in the final game of the season as Vincent Kompany's team thrashed Koln 5-1 in the Allianz Arena to close a fantastic Bundesliga season that saw him score 36 goals to win the Torjägerkanone award for the top scorer.

Kane also scored 14 Champions League goals, just one shy of leader Kylian Mbappé, while his seven DFB Pokal goals have no match, and his strike in the German Super Cup ensured he left his mark in all the competitions.
2. Bayern Munich set the 21st-century goal record
Bayern Munich reached 122 Bundesliga goals in the 2025-26 season to set a new record for most league goals in a single campaign in Europe's top five leagues, surpassing the previous record of 121 held by Real Madrid in 2011-12.
The Bavarians finished three behind the record of 125 set by Italian club Torino in the 1947-48 season, although they boast a superior average goals per match with 3.58, compared to Torino, which played 40 games and averaged 3.125 goals per game.
3. Esteban Lepaul ended PSG's monopoly

Esteban Lepaul claimed the Ligue 1 top scorer award to become the first non-PSG player to receive the award since Alexander Lacazette of Olympique Lyonnais 11 seasons ago in the 2014-15 campaign.
The Stade de Rennais striker added one more goal in a 3-1 loss to Marseille on the final day, which relegated his team to the Conference League, to reach 21 goals, at least five ahead of any other player in the division.
Since Lacazette won the award, the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Edinson Cavani, Kylian Mbappé, and Ousmane Dembele have all won it in the colours of PSG, with Mbappé claiming the prize in five consecutive seasons before his move to Real Madrid.
Esteban Lepaul pulled this off in his first season at Rennes and even though it ended in disappointment as a final-day loss to Marseille saw them miss out on Europa League qualification, playing in the Conference League is still a massive achievement for Les Rouges et Noirs.
4. Marquinhos towers above all Ligue 1 clubs bar PSG
PSG defender Marquinhos claimed his 11th Ligue 1 title to move above all clubs in the division except his own club, in terms of most league title wins.
The Brazilian moves ahead of Saint-Etienne, who boast 10 titles having won their last one in 1980-81, and is now only behind Paris Saint-Germain with 14 titles.

The captain has been a part of the PSG side since his move from AS Roma in the summer of 2013, winning all but two of the league titles in that period as Monaco and Lille denied Les Parisiens in the 2016-17 and 2020-21 seasons respectively.
After leading PSG to the title last season, he surpassed the record of Marco Verratti as the player with the most Ligue 1 titles, and at 32, still committed to a team that looks unstoppable, the former Corinthians youngster could take some beating when he leaves Paris.
5. Enciso joins Ligue 1's American elite playmakers
Julio Enciso of Strasbourg registered a hat-trick of assists in his team's 5-4 comeback win over AS Monaco to become the seventh South American to achieve the feat in Ligue 1 history.
He is also the first Costa Rican to do so, joining the Brazilian duo of Nene and Neymar Jr, as well as the Argentine quartet of Angel Di Maria, Lucho Gonzalez, Javier Pastore, and Lionel Messi.
The striker endured an underwhelming season, but a hat-trick of assists on the final weekend is a worthy highlight, which also takes his Ligue 1 goal contribution to nine for the season.
6. Historical fireworks in Marseille - Rennes
The Ligue 1 match between Marseille and Rennes at the Velodrome on Sunday evening ended with a combined 54 shots, the most in a single game in Europe's top five leagues in the last 20 years.
Both teams attempted 27 apiece, with Marseille, who won the game 3-1 hitting the target 11 times, five more than the visitors, who registered six shots on target.
7. Harry Kane breaks Ballack's Bundesliga record

Harry Kane, with six Bundesliga goals from outside the penalty box in the concluded season has set a new record, surpassing the previous of five set by Michael Ballack in the 2005-06 campaign, also with Bayern Munich.
