Desire Doue and the Stars of the Weekend in Top 5 Leagues

Desire Doue delivered a performance to be desired, the PSG teen stood out as the best player of the weekend in top European leagues, while he is joined by four others in our list on this week's edition.
Desire Doue and the Stars of the Weekend
English Emirates FA Cup: Marcus Rashford of Aston Villa
Marcus Rashford has turned his season around since moving to Aston Villa in the winter window, but it wasn't until the weekend that the goals finally arrived with him.
The Manchester United loanee bagged a brace in a 3-0 win over Preston North End as Unai Emery's charge secured their place in the Emirates FA Cup semi final, where they'll take on Crystal Palace.
The host held Villa to a stalemate in the first-half but the opening goal of the game eventually came just before the hour mark. The ball was worked to the left, and Lucas Digne's low cross across goal was powered home by Marcus Rashford for his first Villa goal.
The lead was doubled less than five minutes later as Preston capitulate after going behind. Morgan Rogers went down in the box after a stamp by Andrew Hughes.
Rashford stepped up, picked his spot and finds the bottom corner, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way for 2-0 for his 140th club goal – he also becomes the leading scorer in the FA Cup and EFL Cup combined since his debut in March 2016 with 27 goals.

Jacob Ramsey added a third in the final quarter of the game to seal a 3-0 win while Rashford created three chances, two big chances. He also had eight touches in Preston box before his withdrawal in the 81st minute.
He just finished ahead of teammate Lucas Digne and Manchester City's Nico O'Reilly, both players who had two assists each in their respective games.
Spanish LaLiga: Kylian Mbappé of Real Madrid
It was another tricky outing for the Los Blancos and they had to do it the difficult way –but the club wouldn't mind as long as they get the job done. That's all that matters these days.
Kylian Mbappé was again decisive as they came from behind to secure all three points against a stubborn Leganes, becoming the only team in the current LaLiga top four to complete the league double over the Borja Jimenez led side this season.
It took time and effort but Real Madrid eventually got their noses in front two minutes after the half hour, with Mbappé converting from the spot, sending his penaka effort down the middle with the helpless goalkeeper diving away.

On a rare start, Arda Guler it was who won the penalty having drawn a foul off Spanish winger Oscar Gonzalez – it was the eleventh penalty awarded to the defending champions in the league this season, taking them two above Real Betis for most.
The visitors would go on to shock the Bernabeu in the remaining minutes before the halftime break. One minute after going behind, parity was restored thanks to a terrible defensive display, which left Diego Garcia with an easy finish from close range.
They took the lead four minutes before the end of normal time in the first-half. Valentin Rosier combined with Oscar Gonzalez on the left, with the latter squaring the ball for Daniel Rabba on the other side to slide into the back of the net, leaving the home supporters shell-shocked.
Whatever it was Carlo Ancelotti told his players at halftime surely worked right from kickoff. Jude Bellingham showed how good he is to restore parity less than two minutes after the break, sliding the ball over the line from close range after being denied initially by the Goalkeeper.
Kylian Mbappé then scored the winning goal from an indirect free-kick 14 minutes from time. After Rodrygo was brought down on the edge of the area, the Frenchman combined with Fran Garcia, firing his shot to the goalkeeper's near post for 3-2.
His brace keeps Real Madrid in the race for the league title, with Barcelona still leading the way on three points, goals, and better head to head record.
Despite other players also starring for their teams in the weekend, Mbappé comes out on top ahead of peers with the crucial goals, and Real Madrid will need him to maintain this consistency if they are to dethrone Barcelona from the top of the standing, and go all the way in the Champions League and Copa del Rey.
Italian Serie A: Federico Dimarco of Inter

The race for the Scudetto is heating up and leaders Inter will do all it takes to preserve their three points advantage ahead of chaser, Napoli.
They got out of the blocks very early in their meeting with Udinese this weekend, as Marco Arnautovic and Davide Frattesi scored in the first half hour to give them a cushion much to the delight of the home fans.
In a fixture they had won each of the previous five, there was not much pressure on Antonio Conte's side. In fact, they have had a series of good news during the international break, with Bayern Munich, their opponent in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals suffering long-term injuries to important players.
Although, missing some important players themselves, but anyone can be the hero in this team, such is the character Conte has always instill in his players and on Sunday, it was the turn of left-back, Federico Dimarco.
The Italian set up the two goals and left the pitch while the host had a 2-0 lead just after the hour mark. Less than 12 minutes into the match, the ball was worked to the left of the Inter attack, where Dimarco's cutback was fired home one-time by Marco Arnautovic.
The was doubled a minute before the half hour and almost in the same fashion. The ball was played to Dimarco as Inter broke forward. His cross across goal was fired home one-time by Davide Frattesi, who was making a run into the box.
Dimarco created three chances, two big chances, and made four recoveries before his withdrawal in the 63rd minute. He finished the game with his sixth assist of the Serie A season, only three players have more.
He also equaled his tally of assists in the competition last season, which is his personal best in a single season – while going better is now part of his agenda before the end of the season, he also needs two more to equal his most across all club competitions, which was also set last season.
The 27-year-old has also been directly involved in ten Serie A goals this season, more than any other defender in the league. Our Serie A player of the weekend stood out for the league leaders, and it was his heroics that have them still ahead of Napoli by three points after the two contenders have played in Gameweek 30.
German Bundesliga: Maximilian Beier of Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund finally end a run of two winless at home in a 3-1 success against Mainz, inspired by Maximilian Beier, who scored a brace to earn them their first win in five in this fixture.
Dortmund, who are positioned eleventh on the log ahead of the weekend games had not beaten Mainz in a home fixture since a 3-1 win back in October 2021, where Erling Haaland bagged a brace.
Beier was the hero this time around. The German scored two of the three goals on Sunday evening, starting with a close range finish from a Karim Adeyemi's ball to break the deadlock six minutes before the break.
Bier, who hadn't found the back of the net in his only three previous meetings with Mainz, score again 18 minutes to the end of the game to make it 3-0, heading home from a Nico Schlotterbeck from a corner.
Beier, who has struggled to make telling impact since his move to the club from Hoffenheim in the summer, takes his goal contributions for BVB to eleven in 38 games across all competitions.
Aside the goals, the 22-year-old also created two chances and won eight duels, but most importantly, the three points he helped earn sees Dortmund tenth on the table, and are now just a point behind eighth place Augsburg.
His place in the team is not certain but following the injury that is expected to keep Serhou Guirassy out until the end of April, Beier will be handed a lot of responsibilities in the coming days, and with three goals in his last three games, Nico Kovac will believe him ready to go.
Replicating such performance on a bigger stage, say in their UEFA Champions League quarter final tie with Barcelona, will be decisive – but while that remains to be seen, the German is our pick as the best of the lot, in the Bundesliga during the weekend.
French Ligue 1: Desire Doue of PSG Paris Saint-Germain

Like his winning penalty in the shootout against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League round of 16, Desire Doue had been responsible for a couple of magical moments in the PSG shirt, but his recently performance away to Saint Etienne will standout for sometime.
The 19-year-old scored a brace for the league leaders in a 6-1 rout, but that wasn't even the biggest highlight of the game. His performance was so good that it received a perfect 10 by Sofascore.
PSG went behind early in the first half against their relegation threatened host, who had not won in nine, a run that kicked off in a 2-1 loss at PSG back in January.
PSG hit back just before half-time through a Goncalo Ramos' penalty, before going onslaught after the break, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia putting them in front five minutes after the restart.
Desire Doue, who has had a wonderful game across the pitch up to that time got his reward three minutes after the Kvaratskhelia strike. The French teenager, fresh from his international debut picked up possession after Barcola picked the pocket of Irvin Cardona.
He drove into the Saint Etienne penalty area and gets his just away just inside the area. His low strike went through the right and into the back of the net, leaving the goalkeeper rooted to a spot.
He scored the penultimate goal of the game, cutting inside between two defenders before sending the ball into the top corner, resulting in his 20th goal involvement of the season, becoming the second youngest player to reach the tally, behind Kylian Mbappé.
Desire Doue also created five chances, completed six dribbles, has nine touches in the opponent's box, eleven final third passes, won three of four tackles, made three interceptions and six recoveries. He also won a total of 12 duels – he leads the way for all these statistics in the match.
He helped PSG to a win which leaves them needing just a point from their remaining seven games to be crowned champions of the Ligue 1 for the 13th time in their history.
He is our pick as the player of the weekend in the French topflight this season – for a player who doesn't get much minutes due to the enormous competition at the club, he has definitely done justice to the given one, and none can be better than the weekend.
Ultimate Player of the week

Desire Doue is the ultimate star of the weekend. The Frenchman topples all others in every aspect during the weekend and rightfully, there's no better candidate worthy than Doue.
