Christian Pulisic was pivotal in an incredible comeback win for AC Milan and thus, the American spearhead our nomination for the player of the weekend in Europe's top five leagues during the weekend.
He is joined by stars from the Premier League, LaLiga, Bundesliga and the incredible Ousmane Dembele of the French Ligue 1 in this edition.
Here is how the stars fared in their respective games to get their names in on our list this time, starting with the ranking of the leagues by UEFA.
Top Stars from Each of Europe top 5 leagues of the weekend
English Premier League: Mohamed Salah of Liverpool
The Egyptian king was back at it against a much inferior opposition in Southampton, who brought the fight to Anfield until the Liverpool's sensational star man called game.
The Premier League leaders fell behind as Willy Smallbone gave the visitors the lead out of nothing, following a poor communication between Van Dijk and Alisson in the added minute of the first half.
However, Liverpool resumed back to business right after the restart and restored parity through Darwin Nunez before winning a penalty which was converted by Mohamed Salah three minutes later.
Yukinari Sugawara was penalized for a handball in the penalty area just as he was in the reverse fixture and again, Mohamed Salah stepped up and converted for his 27th League goal of the campaign, sealing the win for Arne Slot's charge.
Mohamed Salah now moves five goals ahead of his nearest competitor for the European golden shoe as the season approaches it's ending.
He also equals Sergio Aguero's tally of 184 Premier League goals, becoming the joint fifth on the all-time top scorer list. He could yet beat another name on Andrew Cole, who is just three ahead of him.
After a poor performance last time out in Paris, the former AS Roma man can now focus on redeeming himself in the second leg as Liverpool will look to complete the job when the French club comes to England on Tuesday.
Salah is our Premier League player of the weekend in a gameweek where only the league leaders won by a cushion of all the nine fixtures played so far.
Spanish LaLiga: Mauro Arambarri of Getafe
Mauro Arambarri was the hero on Sunday as Getafe came from behind to earn their first win over Atletico Madrid since November 2011, ending a run of 29 winless games in the fixture.
The Uruguayan is having an unbelievable season in front of goal after previously scoring six times in his first seven seasons, he has now scored eight times this season for Geta Azulones.
Following back-to-back defeats in their last two games, a return to winning ways was not foreseen by Pepe Bordalas' charge, but with Atlético Madrid a tad cautious about their fitness ahead of more important clashes with Madrid and Barcelona, there appeaed a little chance of an upset.
Their poor home form, which had seen them winless in any of their home games since the turn of the year was also a worry, but after full time on Sunday, there was plenty to celebrate in a fixture they've hardly had a few in more than a decade.
It was an evenly contested clash until the final quarter of the game, when Alexander Sorloth scored from the penalty spot to give the visitors the lead in the 75th minute, temporarily sending them to the league summit as a result.
However, the host struck back through Arambarri in the 88th minute. Angel Correa was sent off for a foul on Djene following VAR review and from the resulting set-piece, the ball fell kindly to the Uruguayan midfielder inside the penalty area.
He managed to get the ball under control and fire home from close range following for his seventh league goal of the season, becoming the first Getafe player to score in a competitive meeting with Atlético since December 2023.
Arambarri then completed the comeback four minutes later, bearing the offside flag to get a tough on Diego Rico's goal bound effort to wrong foot Jan Oblak, sealing a massive win.
The performance from the 29-year-old move Getafe up for 12th on the log, and it was enough to see him take the crown as LaLiga MVP during the weekend.
Italian Serie A: Christian Pulisic of AC Milan
The American was the star of the show as a struggling Milan came from 2-0 down to snatch all three points from the grip of their host, Lecce on Saturday evening.
Winless in their previous four, Sergio Conceicao led his charge into the game also on a back of three consecutive defeats. Yet, they found themselves two down just before the hour mark.
With two disallowed first half goals through Santiago Gimenez and Maria Gabbia, the Rossonerri looked down and out and heading for another defeat, which will significantly increase the pressure on their manager.
Fortunately, Captain American came to their rescue with a sensational performance in the final quarter of the game, where he scored twice to seal a 3-2 win.
Antonino Gallo beat his own goalkeeper to halve the deficit, giving the visitors the hopes of a comeback in a fixture where they've never lost since a 1-0 scoreline in April 2006.
Pulisic won a penalty and converted it to restore parity, five minutes after Gallo's own goal. It was the American's 13th goal of the season, taking his goal involvement for the club to 20 across all competitions.
He then came up with the match winner nine minutes from the end of normal time, connecting with a brilliant cross from Rafael Leao to put the ball into the back of the net.
It is a much needed win that helps Milan maintain their status in the top half of the table, while Pulisic finished the match with his 30th Milan goal, as well as his eighth on the Serie A this season, taking him level with Tijjani Reijnders as Milan's top score in the league.
The 26-year-old is our pick as the best of all in the Italian topflight. In addition to his brace, Pulisic also created four chances and completed as many dribbles, capping off a true MVP display during the weekend.
German Bundesliga: Jae-Sung Lee of Mainz 04
Jae-Sung Lee was at the heart of the Mainz 04 attack as they continued their impressive league form with a other win on the road, extending winning run to four.
Bo Henriksen's minions continues to climb up the Bundesliga table thanks to another win, which takes them up to third on the log, overtaking Frankfurt and confirming their status as the most inform team in the last five league games.
They made a tricky trip to Borussia Monchengladbach on Friday night looking to establish an early advantage before their close rivals play later in the weekend.
It took six minutes before the interval for the deadlock to be broken. Lee received the ball on the left side of the penalty area, then dragged a low shot across goal for Paul Nebel to strike and beat the goalkeeper thanks to a deflection.
The South Korean international was again there to produce the magic touch that set up Nadiem Amiri to make it 3-1, killing off any hopes of the host's comeback 13 minutes from the end of normal time.
Lee, who appeared in our nomination for his historical brace against Bayern Munich back in December has now scored assisted five Bundesliga goals this season, setting a new personal record.
With 12 goal involvement across all competitions, the 32-year-old is having his best productive season for a top-flight team since his 18 for Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC in the South Korean K League 1 in 2017.
He is our pick in the Bundesliga this weekend, beating Raphael Guerreiro of Bayern Munich, whose brace was not enough to prevent a home defeat for the league leaders against Bochum.
French Ligue 1: Ousmane Dembele of PSG Paris Saint-Germain
Give the level which he has been playing since the turn of the year, 26 minutes is a lot of time for Ousmane Dembele to wreck havocs on any opposition, and Rennes learned the difficult lesson on Saturday evening.
Luis Enrique decided to give a lot of his first team stars needed rest with a UEFA Champions League round of 16 second leg meeting with Liverpool on the horizon, which they'll kickoff in Anfield on Tuesday with a 1-0 deficit.
Before the introduction of Dembele after the hour mark, they led 2-1 away in Rennes thanks to goals from Bradley Barcola and Goncalo Ramos, the former who was also responsible for assisting the second goal.
The host threatened an equalizer on several occasions as the league leaders held on for their lives with crucial defensive displays. However, they would eventually seal the win in injury time thanks to their man on form.
Moments after missing a sitter, Ousmane Dembele was left to apply a simple finish from an Achraf Hakimi pass in the first minute of extra time to make it 3-1, killing the fight in the eyes of their host.
The Frenchman completed his brace a few moments later, firing home from the edge of the box via a deflection, following a pass from fellow substitute, Vitinha.
Dembele has now scored 20 league goals this season, outright top scorer in Ligue 1 and only Mohamed Salah, Mateo Retegui, Robert Lewandowski and Harry Kane have more in top five leagues.
The former Rennes teenager man has now scored 28 goals across all club competitions this season, as many as he did in the previous five seasons and he bags the crown of the best player in the French topflight during the weekend.
Dembele will be needed to replicate this form when PSG visit Anfield on Tuesday. Although it will not be easy, his teammates as well as the traveling fans will look up to him for sparks, which will be needed if they are to stand a chance against the Premier League leaders.
